The aim is to not NEED refactoring when you are playing around with different, short-term bits of code.
Requiring letter-case that is exactly right plus indentation that is exactly right, plus requiring you to choose between spaces and tabs (plus requiring endless 'imports' to added for standard language features), is just a nuisance.
