Why would they do that? It does not sound like friends to me, since they do not respect your wishes, nor your privacy.
I ask my friends not to tag me or upload information about me, and they respect that.
I do give you this though, there probably are indirect traces of me in their systems, but at least that is in clear violation of GDPR, so even though it doesn't amount to much, it is better than nothing.
I also believe that second hand exposure is less than first hand exposure. A small comfort as well.
