Where whatsapp etc. is concerned, I've taken to asking two simple questions, with the caveat that you can't answer "yes" to both.
Q1:  Do you respect other peoples privacy ?
Q2: Do you use "social media" tools such as whatsapp and facebook ?
This usually results in "Yes" to Q1, and an awkward pause at Q2.
