It's not necessarily that people just give up because stuff is hard,
there is limited time in the day and people have other stuff to do.

 Getting high schools to a Usenet project should be
the advocacy of everyone here!

I'm not saying it's not worth it, I'm just saying they might have to restructure their plans because school projects have a certain amount of time allocated to them, and once it's getting close to the completion date it's just not possible to do everything. Especially if it's something as complicated as setting up a working nntp server if even the terminal might not be the first thing people think about when using computers.
(I learned how to use computers on DOS, my son doesn't have a clue what this black thing I am using for work is)
