In fact, in axiomatic set theory (due to von Neumann):
IN = {{}, {0}, {0, 1}, {0, 1, 2}, ...}
where 0 = {}, 1 = {0}, 2 = {0, 1}, ... etc. In general: n+1 = {0, ..., n}.
