Nah, I have "number" as mostly reflecting "scalar",
though there's usual wider usage

I don't think I'm being unreasonable to ask that
we all use words the same way, whichever way that may be.
Apparently, that small ask is challenging,
when we come to the term 'number".
I am also perfectly comfortable with not.using "number".
