Il faut que les choses aient un sens pratique.
1/ Speak english!
2/ NO! Not at all. Mathematics are founded on pure abstract concepts, without any "practical sense". Applications are only byproducts. Many parts of the contemporary mathematics have no applications at all or promises of applications (yet!). But you are so far away from the mathematics developed today, stuck into childish and pathological considerations that have been well known for centuries, and that millions of people on earth can understand very easily.
PS: I am myself an applied mathematician.
