If it was available in 1980 I would sure keep my money in Bitcoin and not the banks. The banks in Iran collapsed earlier than the year 1980 and I lost all my 3 years' worth of work money there! The thieving scum who controlled the bank took all peoples' money and ran away to Los Angeles. I hope some of the houses that burned to the ground were theirs.
I don't have to personally have the experience. Look what happened to Afghans right after American occupiers left the country. Their money got frozen and only those who had bought bitcoins with them got to have access to their money.
Do you understand what makes an imaginary coin to grow to over $100k? First note that matter before saying anything else. And don't fool yourself. It grew because it had a solid ground on which it could grow. And I explained what that ground was.
