The implosion in the crypto-coins is originated with the scam of $LIBRA
memecoin, which was driven by the fraud supported by Argentinian
President Milei and his small group of advisors, who stole more than 100
million USD in the first 30 minutes of operation, on February 14, 2025.
The scam was synchronized, at the launch of $LIBRA, with US partners.
Milei wrote an X post advising to buy $LIBRA at 19:01 that Friday, 3
minutes AFTER $LIBRA was launched in the SOLANAS site. Its value went
from ZERO to about $5.5 in the first half hour, before a massive
snipping (rug pull) caused it to fall 20 times.
It reached a market capitalization of 4,500 million USD in such short
time, which fall to almost zero in the first hour, after less than 4
crypto-wallets sold massively what they had buy, allowing a fraud that
is in excess of 300 million USD.
The impact of the fraud destroyed the crypto-coin world in hours and
affected the major tokens like Bitcoin and Ethereum.
In Argentina, there is desperation in the government to BURY this scam,
which affected about 75,000 persons (mostly from the US, Europe and
China).
The trust on Bitcoin has been eroded due to this scandal.
Milei has been charged with fraud accusations at Argentina and abroad.
